Academy Street Dance Studio
Brief:
The team at Academy Street Dance Studio, like many businesses around the world, were navigating the restrictions that the pandemic is putting on gatherings, education and extracurricular activities. With students as young as 18 months old up to teenagers and adults, they were looking for a way of sharing each students progress with their proud parents and families.
The team also wanted to create an engaging film that showcases the location, facilities and expertise of the dance teachers as well as the range of classes that the studio offers. The team at Academy Street Dance Studio have a strong bond with their students and their families. Typically a family will sign up their child for dance lessons from the age of 2 years old and the child will stay with them, continuing lessons as they grow up and progress from primary school, secondary school and then on to further education. The aim was to create content that captured this beautiful relationship between the instructors and their students whilst also inviting new students to join the Academy Street family.

Outcome:
We worked with Gillian and Jo to create a schedule that enabled us to capture class routines and highlights of every single student at the studio. Prior to the filming we defined the key themes that we wanted to show in the video;
The range of dance classes and styles
The quality of the classes
The sense of family and friendship
The spacious, purpose built facilities
With the themes chosen, we began to capture all that makes Academy Street Dance Studio, a gem in the heart of Aberdeen. We filmed every age range and every dance style; ballet, tap, modern, jazz, street dance, highland and even baby massage classes. We worked with the instructors to select the perfect routines, dance moves and techniques to showcase the quality teaching and range of styles and we caught some beautiful student-teacher interactions and countless clips full of students smiling and laughing with each other that perfectly captures the family focused and fun atmosphere that Gillian and Jo do so well to foster.
